Giant Seaweed Energy Bowls!

I am inspired by the irregularity of natural forms and these are reflected in all my pieces be that thrown or hand built. I wanted to tell you all about my new energy bowls. These bowls are created with porcelain and imprinted with seaweed before being glazed and lined with metallic lustres and melted glass. Each of these bowls is incredibly special and shaped to contain the energy which surrounds us, lit with a candle they really are magical. I particularly love the duality of strength and fragility, the rough and the smooth and the light and the darkness contained within these pieces. Porcelain is such a strong material and yet so thin. Traditionally it is used to provide very smooth surfaces whereas I love the use of this delicate yet strong material contrasted with rough edges and highlighted with metallic lustres. The contrasts reflect so many aspects of our lives and thoughts and I truly believe these bowls hold a special place for meditation be that as a specific action or just as a way to relax and process thoughts and feelings. The only way to truly experience these pieces is to hold them and feel the energy.
